I have been to Scotland twice before and have learnt that the sunshine comes in two varieties there...either the hot or the liquid one

But my summer trip to Alba in 2007 saw only 2 days of liquid sunshine, the rest of the fortnight we had been there was warm and dry-perfect biking weather. So I see no reason why we shouldn't have a magnificent sennight in two weeks from now-I am really counting the days by now

So heute die letzten Schweißarbeiten für meinen neuen Gepäckträger erfolgreich abgeschlossen.

Nur noch mal eben lackieren und wieder anbauen. 
Fotos werden auf einem anderen Sendeplatz eingestellt.

Noch eine Woche arbeiten dann VIER WOCHEN URLAUB

I am counting the days...an nonetheless I am very glad that there is still time left before we leave the continent...my gearbox looses oil and makes the clutch slippery...so I'll have to replace the oil seal before we start

Hello Taz,
I hope you repair the problem with the gearbox.
Yesterday I changed all the oils in my machine ready for the trip.

After she passed the MOT she lost power on the way home and top speed was again only 55kph. Then I noticed that because the cover on the air cleaner was very loose, it was closing due to vibration and making the spark plug full of carbon.
I have taken the aircleaner to pieces to repair it before our meeting tomorrow night.

so werden es doch mehr als 4 Personen sein, die in Schottland fahren werden. 
Ich finde es großartig, das sich doch der ein oder andere mit anschließt.
Nur schade, das eure Maschinen nicht so ganz mitmachen. 

Wollte hier noch mal den Wetterbericht der nächsten Tage mit hineinkopieren, klappt aber nicht.
Zu dumm für.
Auf jeden Fall wird in den nächsten Tagen kein Regen mehr erwartet.
Ist doch auch schon mal was wert.

Hallo Rudi.

Keine Panik

Bärbels Kupplung rutscht nach 20-30km...nach dem Abstellen tropft sie auf den Asphalt (genau an der Trennfuge zwischen Motor und Getriebe, das zusammen mit dem erkennbar sinkenden Ölstand im Getriebe läßt eigentlich nur den Schluß zu, daß der Simmerring an der Getriebeeingangswelle am Sterben ist.

Ersatz ist unterwegs, außerdem liegt ein R25/2 Getriebe einsatzbereit im Regal und auch Hans wird sicherheisthalber ein R25/3-Getriebe mit zu Dir bringen...Bärbel wird also einsatzbereit auf die Strecke gehen.

Kannst Du bitte nochmal sicherheitshalber die Fährendaten posten?

Hallo Rudi,

Will hat den Kontakt zu einem Mitglied des BMW Klubs geschickt. Mit dem habe ich gestern telefoniert. Es war ein überaus unterhaltsames Gespräch und er will uns Abends in Edinburgh (ausgesprochen Eddinbarra ;-) / hab ich gelernt) treffen und noch paar Routenhinweise geben. ( )

Das wird echt lustig!!

Ich kann kaum noch an etwas anderes als unsere Tour denken.
und freue mich Euch am Samstag (ja!, ich komme doch schon am Samstag) zu besuchen.

As far as I know the name Dunedin is not used much by English people except for Dunedin in New Zealand.
The name is used by some organisations in Scotland though.

Anthisan cream in case the spray does not work.

Yes, that stuff is a must in case we don't have wind...the continental stuff doesn't serve as an insect repellant but more like Chanel No. 5 for them wee bastards

Some thoughts now I'm home again after my visit (860 kms) to the group in Scotland.
Apologies for not taking 'Lottie' to Scotland through lack of faith in my machine.

The tour group are all well and attracting many admiring comments from people about the machines and the fact that they were ridden to Scotland. I thoroughly enjoyed the company and cameraderie of new friends and thank you all for the experience. I hope to meet with you all again soon.

Tas has some more photos to upload when the group return home.

PS - The midge repellant did not work for me.  Midges 47 - Will 0
