I recently lost a petrol tank rear mounting bolt from my M20 BSA despite checking them frequently. Its replacement is now lockwired.
The reason for this post is that the BSA has a very similar setup to the R26 & I'm wondering whether anyone lockwires their bolts here.

Hello Bob...I do (on my R25/3)...it shouldn't be necessary with the original setup, using M8x1 fine thread, but like most bikes some "specialist" had retapped with standard M8 and even though the M8x1 can still be used, the main advantage of that is no longer strong enough to keep them bolts from trying to vanish...

On my R25/2, there are thick rubber washers around the frame mount that the tank bolt goes through.  Seems like that provides some resistance to letting the bolt loosen over time.
