Hi Bent,

i think it´s a kind of "police-green". John Beemer says, that it must be an original colour.  Ask BMW Mobile Tradition und send them this picture. They should be able to help you.

Hi,

I'm not very sure, whether it is an original colour. Most police-greens are darker ("Tannengrün" RAL 6009 / sometimes 6013)  and only a few had these lines (in a light-green "Weißgrün" RAL 6019 - not white).

Army: "olivgrün" RAL 6003

Government (only once): Schwarzgrün" RAL 6012

In these times normal colour was white or black. There were no standard-colour lists. Therefore, you ordered the bike with the colour, that you wanted and you got it. Since the police/government of each "Bundesland" in Germany ordered the bikes themselves (no central buying), there were differences in the colour of the bikes.

So what is exactliy "original colour" ?

Greetings

Carsten

... or with the colour like the R 27 in the picture below. This shining colour, RAL 7013 Braun-Grün, without pin stripes and any other "Schnickschnack"  ;D, was used for german military police bikes, which were especially driven as  escort bikes.

@ Heiko:

Schnickschnack => "Knickknack"  or "bits `n pieces" or "gadgets"   :oberlehrer:     ;D

Hi,

I got this answar from Mobile Tradition:

"According to the picture the colour is probably "Turf", BMW paint code 073.
We know that a batch of post war bikes delivered to the US were painted in
Turf. Unfortunately we have no information about the pinstripes on these
bikes."

Does BMW paint code 073 relate to a RAL number or would a paintshop know
the BMW paint code?.
I have measured the inner and outer pinstripes on the tank to 2 and 5 mm
is that correct?. Is it possible to get readymade pinstripes or should I prefer
painted pinstripes?.

Best regards

Bent

Hi Bent,

every paintshop normally has a computer programm from brillux or others, so that they can recognize the Farbcode of the BMW colour. Like my paintshop did it three weeks ago to know the correct type of my R 75/5 colour.

The measered size of the pinstripes is correct, but differences from bike to bike are possible, because they are handmade. I prefer painted pinstripes, because i like it much more than readymade ones.
