Titel: R26 footrest & stand assembly
Beitrag von: BSA Bob am 06 August 2026, 06:40:02
The R26 fell over in a carpark & the bloody left footrest is bent upward about 5 degrees. To replace the footrest the bolt securing the centrestand must come out. Does anyone know a trick to keep everything in alignment? The springs will make this difficult.

Your right hand holding the centrestand while the screw is fitted.

Well, my right hand wasn't strong enough to keep everything in alignment while I put things back together. So I had to take the stand off completely & refit the springs. I must get a more refined spring stretcher.

Thanks for the suggestion. I've tried this before, although I didn't put in a second layer of thicker washers. This time I hooked the spring to a scissor jack & stretched it that way.

easiest way is to assemble while leaning the bike on a wall with stand in the up position. Assemble and then put the bike back on the stand in the normal way - bingo

I tied Hildy down on my hydraulic lift & was able to move the stand that way.
