What's the requirements for getting one of these older bikes registered for the road?  I read on another vintage forum that things have change for the UK:

"CLASSIC and historic vehicles are to be exempted from the annual MoT test, the Government announced today.

From November 18 this year, owners of vehicles manufactured before 1960 will not have to have to take them in for an MoT, Roads Minister Mike Penning said.

Pre-1960 licensed vehicles make up about 0.6% of the total number of licensed vehicles in Britain, but are involved in just 0.03% of road casualties and accidents."

Here in Texas, if the bike is more than 24-25 years old, it can be registered as an antique.  In addition, we can use year-of-manufacture plates, which I have done for both my R25/2 and R69S.  This status doesn't require any inspections for road use.  That helps a bit, even though I keep the bikes road worthy anyway.

Hi Kurt. In Canada it depends on the province. Saskatchewan (SK), where I live, the regulations are about as lax as they can be. The importation of a vintage motorcycle requires only that GST (5%) be paid on any cost above $4000 and no inspection for road worthiness. Two years ago this was true for 250 cc or less but now for all vintage motorcycles, regardless of displacement.

As for insuring, we have government insurance in SK and I can insure my vintage bikes for $102 per year (with a good driving record). Not a bad deal at all.
