Hello community.
I have a contact in England who has bought an R25/3 but it is not running well.
He has removed the cylinder head and found it to be damaged. Has any member a secondhand cylinder head to sell please?

Hello Will.

I am terribly sorry to not being able to help out here, but in case a suitable cylinder head is found elsewhere in Germany I would offer to take care of the delivery...I still have access to UPS with quite reasonable rates that would allow the head to be picked up at the seller's doorstep with a pre-printed label and sent directly to the new owner in the UK, if that would ease the task a bit....

All the best, Taz

Hey Bill,
changing because of the (3) cracks or the warping (?) of the combustion chamber?

Hi Rolf,
I think it's because of the cracks, plus the threaded insert for the spark plug has dropped out.
I have not seen the actual cylinder head only in a photograph taken with a phone and the owner lives a long way from me in the south. Thanks for your interest.

the cracks are only interesting when they reach the valve-settings....nearly every head has  cracks

What they do... they go from the plug bore to the valve seats.

rolf

not everyone...I think only 40% does it ....a little on the top crack of the settings are ok...not very good...but ok

Heiko

But on the picture.... one goes to the intake valve seat and one to the outlet valve seat.

Sie gehen bis dahin (was schon mal nicht hervorragend ist)....aber gehen sie auch tief in den Sitz hinein?

Heiko

I am not sure but it seems so. You could only check it if you remove the seats.

There are three cracks around the plug bore.
One of them is deep, reaching fairly far into the plug hole and than to the valve left sided.
His brother is in direct line on the other side of the plug hole.

So removing valve-seats is quite natural.

Hello again.
The owner of the cracked R25/3 cylinder head has seen a bare R25 cylinder head for sale 'as new'.
The sale description states that some modification is necessary to fit an R25/3.

Does anyone here know what the differences are and can it be made to fit?

Hi Will,

the comparison table says the R25 has only 22mm intake (24mm for R25/3). As well the oil supply for the head is different.

Maybe there is a way to make it fit, but I would consider this as misleading (power!?) and too much effort. Getting a R25/3-head should not be such a big deal to justify any R25-adaption effort.

Hello Steffen,
Many thanks for the information which I have passed on to my contact. He is not buying the R25 head.
He is still looking for a suitable R25/3 cylinder head if one is available.
