Good morning!
In the Military I learned that the only stupid question, is the question NOT asked. So here is my first questions. We are going to start with small things, when restoring this BMW R23. What I would like to know is:

What material is the seat covers made of?
Did the seats, when new, shine? Or where they a dull colour.
Did the seats have the BMW embalms on them?
What, if anything, should I use to clean and preserve the seats?

We am slowly looking at the  bike, taking pictures of everything and wondering where to start. I thought maybe starting small, like the seats would be better. I think I need to see, and take pictures of a restored R23. I wonder where a well restored R23 is near Burgkunstadt?

I wish you all a nice Sunday. Ride safe!

Hi Guyfang,
sorry, I didn`t know what material they used by the seat cover of an R23.
But in the future  ;D, means the time of the R25 - R27 series, they use rubber.
The seat covers of that series was made by the factories "Denfeld" oder "Pagusa".
By the way: In direct translation Pagusa means "PAtentRUbberSAddle",
cause the german word for rubber is Gummi.
This and the word "Denfeld" was impressed on the seat cover.

But what did you mean, writing "and wondering where to start"?

Have nice day and everyday fuel in the tank.

The saddle was a rubber canvas mixture...it looks dull, no BMW signs
"Armor all" or Glycerin is good for that stuff (because it is nearly to pure rubber)
