1958 R26 gearbox (what a journey)

I seem to have finally got got the gearbox for my 1958 R26 together.

It now goes through all the gears an the neutral switch works.

I was a really fiddly job but got there in the end and learnt a lot. Hopefully it will be good under power.

Hi Brian,

fine job. Congratulations! Very nice photo documentation of the work done. I have seen one thing you did which I missed to do on my gearbox, to measure the function of the neutral switch before and after repair. I was very lucky. It worked. If it doesn't and you want the switch to work there is no way around opening the gearbox again.

It took me a few goes to get it right.

I'm sure a modification could be easily done that would allow adjustment from the outside.

Adjustment of the "neutral switch" can´t be done without openig the gear-box-lid. But it can easily be done before the shafts are setted! After the shafts are inside the gear-box the lid must be heated up to get it off.

Yes I know that but I a better design could be produced that would allow the tang of the neutral switch to be adjusted externally.
