Titel: R26 frame
Beitrag von: BSA Bob am 13 Oktober 2021, 06:06:47
The frame of my R26 needs tweaking after its bottom frame rail  repair. The distance between the vertical flats of the lower motor mounts is 164mm, too narrow.
Would someone be able to give me the correct distance between these 2 vertical flats?

Hello Bob.

Just to make sure we are talking about the same thing...you'd be interested in measurement A in the draft below, right?

I won't be able to provide, but maybe this draft will make it more clear what is required so others can help out.

Kind regards, Ute

the width of the engine with the rubber....plus 2-4mm....it is no rocket science....you will never find 2 frames with the same distance

A Drawing from BMW that I got from a friend tells me 168mm at this.
See Section (Schnitt) L to M in the Drawing, that should be the Dimension that you are looking for.....

Thanks very much indeed for all your prompt replies!

Taz  Yes, that's exactly the measurement I'm looking for.

rolf  Indeed. The plan is to measure the engine & rubbers as you say & then fix the frame. New rubbers are on the way.

RolfD  Thanks for the drawing. It's good to know what BMW intended.

I'm aware of course that there are 4 mounting points that have to line up. The frame rail nearest the repair (you all know what that repair was!) was distorted slightly in the process. The other 3 were & should be OK.

Thanks again for all your help.
