Good morning, I would like to understand the lubrication inside the head of the R25 / 2 as it comes with little oil coming from the tubes in the rocker supports. Is everything entrusted to the oil vapors?
How are lubricated rods and rockers? Where does it flow from?    My cylinder has the through holes of the head bolts.
   Thank you

Anto

Hi Anto,

please look at my pictures. The tube in the Zylinder gets oil from the pump up to the head. The "Oil in"-Path in the Head must be free from sealent. The exhaust-side in the Head almost looks dry, even just after running. But of course there always should be a little oil between the rocker and its axis. The inlet-side should look more wet. There is just a small amount of oil pumped in the head. You can hardly check it when the motor is running at idle speed.

...egal! Ich lass das jetzt so.

Thanks Stefan, all clear !!! I was worried about the small amount of oil in the head and I do not understand how efficient lubrication occurs between the rocker arm and the valve. Yes, the ducts are free and the pump works. Thanks  and must best regards , Antonio

to ensure oil was pumping correctly, I purchased a length of stainless steel rod, the same diameter as the drive from the camshaft. I think the diameter was 8 mm, but check you unit if you wish to try this , the cost was minimal

ground 4 flats one end to match the original part, this engaged with the pump, long enough to,  stand clear of the crankcase.

attached a variable speed power drill, and ran not very fast. make sure of the correct direction.

thus operated the pump, and I could see oil coming up through the cylinder head, and out of the valve rocker units.

Still have the ''home made test tool ' in my garage.

the engine is a 1951 R25 unit.

simple to make, and gave me confidence all was well.

Hello, great idea !!! I immediately start to work to build the tree ..
In your opinion, Jolly, does the contact between the rocker head and the valve have a sufficiently efficient lubrication? Thanks for everything Antonio

If the oilsupply of the rockers is ensured, they will throw oil all around there on top. Even the later twin-models rely on this way of oil-mist on all moving surfaces
in the rocker-compartment, there is no explicit extra-supply for the valve-stems or rocker-ends. This is approved technology. No need to worry.

Sascha
Think outside the box !

Thanks Sascha, it was what I wanted to hear. Thanks a greeting from Antonio
