Hi all,
I have just bought an R26 that was imported into the UK in 1978 from Switzerland. To my knowledge it was brought in as a non runner and has never been registered in the UK. I have managed to get it going, but since then I have taken it apart and have noticed that under the black paint there is a light metallic green paint that appears to be the original paintwork. Does anyone know if this is likely? and if so who might have used it painted in that colour? I know the French army used BMW singles. I can't attach a photo as my images are all too big.
best regards Ken

Hello Ken.

Make this a light blue metallic colour and add partially chromed sides of the fuel tank and you might have gotten yourself a Swiss Blue bike...one of a small, yet unknown number of R26 that have been specially made for a Swiss dealer...

More when I am back home.

All the best, Ute

What device is the image on?  How are you accessing the forum?  If you have a desktop computer, it should contain a program that will allow you to reduce the size of the image.  If on your phone, you'll need to transfer to your larger computer.

Hello Ken,

If you have the pictures on a smartphone you might be able to use some resize apps to make them smaller. There are a lot of those apps available in appstore L.

Kind regards

I think there were 650 imported to Switzerland by "C.A. Drenowatz" with the special colour.
They were called "R26 Jubilee"

I have heard that Archive Munich will not give any informations via email, telefon call or what ever about your bike any more. They now have a paper calls birth certificate and costs a lot of money.
But may you have luck, try..

Fingers crossed that they will find anything in their archive about it...did you reach out to the BMW Club United Kingdom & Ireland (http://www.thebmwclub.org.uk/default.asp) yet? They got some pretty knowledgeable guys with good connections to the BMW arrchive over there  ;D

Hi all.I have scraped so more black paint off the frame and top yoke and the original colour does seem to be light blue.I think the green colour must be faded blue.
Does anyone know the RAL code for the Swiss Blue?
