The carburettor fitted to my R26 is a Bing stamped 1/26/99.
It was bought new from Munich dealer Peter Ondrak many years ago.
I can't find any reference to this model number. Can someone help?

Hi Bob,
give it a try to call Mr. Klaus Faak

Hi Bob, are you sure it is a ..99, and not a ..93?

The 1/26/93 would be an R27 carburettor. The ...99 is not listet at Faak for any of the BMW models  ???

Hi Bob.

There's another great source of information about Bing carbs... http://www.greiner-oldtimerteile.de/

Only German, don't whether he would actually send stuff to your part of the world...

He is offering information and spare parts for a large number of Bings, but he also doesn't even list the 1/26/99 ...

Maybe a second look, just to make sure, as Steffen suggested?

Kind regards, Taz

Thanks for the quick replies folks.
I was able to find quite a bit of information on the net but nothing at all about"99".
I'll have another look.
Incidentally, does anyone here remember Peter Ondrak? I gather he passed away some years back.

Gero

Do you have a picture of the number? Maybe it's a Bing 1/24/99.

I remember him as the main dealer for used BMW bikes in the Munich area in the sixties and seventies.
He used to have an incredible number of one- and twocylinders in his basement, mainly from the (local) police.

Yes indeed, I had another look with better lighting & a magnifier. It's a 1/26/93.
So this is an R27 carburettor? I'll look it up on the sites mentioned here.
Thanks for your help folks, any other comments appreciated.

So you did! And an impressive document it is. Thanks!
The carby's done about 15,000 k so should be in reasonable condition.

I guess I'm not following...where do you click for the carb number?

Thanks...Kurt

Hi Kurt
OldsCool's reply #2 has the numbers 1/26/93 highlighted.

Bob -

All I see are phone numbers and an out of date calendar of events.

OK, I can see that.  It's my confusion as the suggestion was to go to post #2...well actually it was reply #2.  I took it to mean the second post, not the second reply.  I can now see that the forum says "reply #1", "reply #2", etc.  Never really noticed that before.

Thanks...Kurt

Thanks for the second post, I'd already downloaded the information from #2 as you suggested. I think everyone's got what they need now.
I take it that Faak-Tillmans are experts on old carburettors?

OldsCool!

Sorry, I mixed the Bobs and Kurts  :beten:

Yes, Faak (Tillmans is meanwhile out) is one of the honored experts of Bing carbs.
