Why are 11mm Heyco BMW open end spanners so difficult to find?
It's the one to adjust the tappets.

Ah, OK I understand.
You could try with searchstring "Bordwerkzeug" ( onboard or stock tool kit ) and "BMW" - maybe you get some hits.

ebay-kleianzeigen.de is also worth a try.
I just typed "BMW Heyco" and almost had a hit:

unfortunately it's an 10 - 8 but you see, there are some chances. Couch yourselves and try every few days.

Yes there are a full range of sizes available except the 11mm. :(

really seems to be a tough nut to crack.
However, if you find one on german ebay or ebay-kleinanzeigen.de and the seller refuses to ship it to UK, just let us/me know.

Hope all well with yourself and the Price Clan.
When putting together a tool kit for my /3 I bought a few excellent condition secondhand tools from Motorworks that had come from machines they had broken for parts. Worth a try, if not from them you know the other breakers/unofficial dealers.

Knowing your 'lathe' skills, perhaps there is a 'gap' in the market, you could start to reproduce replicas ?

In German Baumarkts you get them without any problems. Another fine tool you may need evry now and then is the 14mm spanner.
This model fits perfectly for the cylinder nuts, which are 14mm originally.
