howdy

so in the process for the homologation of the old lady i need to prove a light when i brake, i bought a switch but i needed to design and build a support, it has been a while making drawings, and checks, but now i was ready, see it here

decided to place the support in the rear brake using the pedal lever

using the two holes for the sozius-foot support and a thin aluminium plate that will make possible fiting the support if needed in the future

lets see

first a rough template, but the lines are there

the switch in place and painted, the cables going through the rubber cover

rubber cover in place, no braking, only position light is on 5watt

braking and brake light comes on, 21 watt

in my opinion simple, and unobtrusive, cables wil go below to the frame
check how the top edge of the support has been bent to increase stiffness and bear the switch spring

Hi dequincey,

Nice work! Where are you from that a brake light is mandatory? In Europe it should not be, because of so called grandfathering (or conservation of rights). So as it was not mandatory at the date of manufacturing, it is not mandatory today either.
Anyway, I probably would not want to miss it for safety reasons as well...

I agree, that it's a good idea to add a brake light. And if I know a good implementation of a switch, when I see one, I see it here.

hi steffen, i am located in the basque country, north peninsula iberica
the guy that carries on the homologation says that i must have a brake light if i would like to homologate it for night use too, otherwise is not mandatory

thank you for your kind compliments,
probably the paint is a bit matt, i will try to solve it adding some glossy paint later

Nice job of mounting the brake switch, where did you get the rubber switch cover from?

Thanks
Graham

hi, bought it all together with the switch in a classic show,
i can see there are slight differences with the one that our colleague @Anulu posted, i would say buy always as a kit switch +cover
