I'm an owner of a BMW R26 motorcycle (manufactured on December 13th, 1955, engine number 341975). I would be very pleased if you could inform me about paint code of my motorcycle because I want to restore it completely authentic. It is silver-blue, rare series, purchased in Switzerland. I was looking for colour schemes and paint codes on BMWarchiv and other web pages but unfortunately without much success. I am also interested in archive documentation, authentic pictures, etc. so that I can verify and buy adequate parts for it. Any suggestion, documentation or advice is more than welcome.

Ivo,

we've got an information from BMW, that 500 R26 were delivered to Swizzerland coloured "Hellblau".
We don't have knowledge about the RAL-number, but may be an owner of a R26 in Swizzerland can help you/us along.

May be following picture can help you

Thank you guys for quick response.

I've noticed posts coming from ''swiss hans'' and ''rolf.soler''. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to send private emails through '' Einzylinder-Forum''. I would be grateful if you could circulate this e-mail to them.

I've find out that there is no paint code, but the colour is the same as for the BMW 502 V8 export addition.
They have mached this colour together with the help of the BMW Historical Archive. Now is available from http://www.motopaint.ch/. This "Swiss Blue" R26 with chromed tank and white pinstripes was also the first production BMW to come on the market with a Schorsch Meier bench seat manufactured by Denfeld, and a chrom sports or grab handle on the rear fender.

High resolution photos of  the motorcycle (authentic one) are welcome. Thank you, Bernd. Advice and tips regarding painting of the chromed tank would be also very helpful!
